The Upper Mustang Trek is a spectacular trekking experience of 17 days. This trek offers you the chance to dwell deep into the realms of the mystical Trans-Himalayan area of Mustang. Highly influenced by Tibetan culture,  Upper Mustang was one of the  forbidden kingdom of Nepal. Upper Mustang was opened to outsiders only since 1991 and is still an area that requires a special permit to be trodden in. Though an expensive trek, the upper Mustang trek is surely an experience of a lifetime. Thousand-year-old monasteries, caves, scenic landscapes and dry arid regions are the geographically diverse attractions of the trek. The Upper Mustang trek is also an experience full of cultural attractions; Tiji Festival as well as the living style of the ethnic inhabitants of the region is worth exploring too.

The trek starts off after a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara and a flight to Jomsom. From here, you trek to Kagbeni with the extremely alluring views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. From this point onwards, a special permit will be required to reach Chele through the banks of the Kaligandaki. From Chele, we reach Syanbochen through Eklo Bhatti from the Taklam La Pass. Another pass that we cross on the way is the Yamda La to reach Shaymin.

It’s almost like reaching a new environment from Lo Manthang. Views of the Nilgiri, Annapurna, Tilicho and Bhrikuti glorify the path to Drakmar. The path takes us into the depths of Ghiling, Chhuksang and finally comes to an end in Jomsom.  Mustang is surely one of the few places in the planet which have retained its old age glory and close-niched life until now. the isolated kingdom is still far from the realms of urbanization and globalization and the Upper Mustang trekking, through this mystical land is surely set to take you as close to nature as possible.
