Overview

One of the less trodden areas in the Annapurna region, trekking to Mardi Himal Base Camp is a newly opened destination for thrill seekers. The Mardi Himal Base Camp trek is a hidden gem which passes through small winding paths. The path takes you through a trial avoiding the crowd and areas of urbanization into eh heart of the mystical Annapurna region.
The diverse trek alternates between the tree line and rocky mountain terrain. The trek starts off from Kande, situated 1 hour from Pokhara. The trek is slightly steeper at the start and from the Australian Camp; it becomes a downhill path to Pothana. From here, we reach Deurali and enter the Forest Camp.
The undulating path from Forest Camp is followed by a steep path to Low Camp and then onto an open dry ridge. From here perfect views of the Macchapuchrre which is surely set to mesmerize you. Another four to five hours trek brings us into the Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500 m). The return path brings us from the High Camp to the Jiu Hot spring where you can soothe your exhausted muscles with the water from the spring. The trek finally comes to an end in the beautiful Gurung Village of Ghandruk.
The Mardi Himal Base Camp is an alternate trek to relish the amazing views of the Annapurna Range in a less trodden and less populated path. Simple guesthouse and homestay locations adorn the entire path and there is ample opportunity to mix up with the ethnic inhabitants of the region. The maximum altitude to be covered is the Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4500 m. the 8-day tour is highly recommended for thrill seekers to all kinds and can be carried out with medium difficulty.
